A better organization starts with better business DNA.

You run the business. We help it run better.

I look at the people, processes, and practices behind your business to find what's strong, what's stuck, and what needs to improve.

Danielle Folsom, founder of The Productive

Every business is built on three things

Thirteen focus areas across the three, measured against how work actually happens day to day.

Inward

The heart

Culture, communication, and trust: the relationships that decide whether good people stay.

  • Culture & Values
  • Leadership & Team Dynamics
  • Communication & Collaboration
  • Onboarding, Training & Development
  • Engagement & Retention

Outward

The face

Your brand, your messaging, and the experience clients have when they deal with you.

  • Brand Identity & Messaging
  • Client Communication & Experience
  • Market Presence & Visibility
  • Positioning & Competitive Edge

Infrastructure

The bones

The systems, tools, technology, and processes that carry the day-to-day work, including how AI fits into it.

  • Organizational Snapshot
  • Tool & Platform Usage
  • Operational Efficiency
  • Digital Framework

The distinction

I do HR.
But not in the way you think.

HR is the brain of your business. It interprets signals, shapes decisions, and directs how the organization functions.

Operational HR

stability & compliance

  • Payroll
  • Benefits Administration
  • Compliance
  • Employee Records

This work keeps the business steady and compliant.

This is what I do

Strategic HR

vision & growth

  • Leadership Development
  • Culture & Change
  • Technology & AI
  • Client Experience

This work shapes how the business thinks, decides, and grows.

Common business struggles

You have a strong business and a team that works hard. But that doesn't mean everything always runs smoothly.

  • Good employees keep leaving

You hire great people. They don't stick around.

30–200%of salary to replace one employee

  • Things fall through the cracks

Leads, follow-ups, and small details slip through, quietly costing revenue.

  • Leaders and teams aren't on the same page

What leadership expects and what the team hears don't line up.

  • Juggling too many systems

98 hrsa year lost to tech that isn't working

  • Everyone feels stretched thin

Everyone is working hard, but people are tired and small things start slipping.

  • Inconsistent customer experience

5x–7xthe cost to replace a customer vs. keep one

You're not alone. There's a pattern.

These aren't separate problems. They're all connected. Symptoms of something deeper: your Business DNA.

Once you understand your DNA, you can fix what's stuck.

How we work together

Three ways in.One way of working.

Every business is different. Some need clarity first. Some need strategy and action. Some need training and ongoing support. I meet you where you are.

Clarity & Assessment

“You know something's not working. You just don't know what.”

I evaluate the people, processes, and practices behind the business and hand back a prioritized roadmap.

Strategy & Implementation

“You understand the problem. Now you need to solve it.”

I build the strategy with you and put it in place: leadership development, process redesign, policy, and team alignment.

Training & Ongoing Support

“You've made changes. Now you want to sustain them.”

Training, coaching, and support so the change holds.

About the Work

What does The Productive do, in simple terms?

I help business owners and leaders strengthen how their organization actually operates: how people lead, how teams work together, and how decisions get made. My work focuses on clarity, alignment, and building healthier internal systems so the business can grow sustainably.

What kind of HR do you do?

I focus on strategic HR, not day-to-day administrative HR. That means I'm less involved in payroll, benefits administration, or routine compliance, and more focused on leadership, culture, structure, communication, and the systems that support people doing their best work. My role isn't to replace an internal HR function or handle ongoing administrative tasks. I partner with leaders on the deeper organizational challenges and build systems that make operations clearer and more effective over time.

What kinds of businesses do you work with?

I primarily work with small to mid-sized organizations, nonprofits, and growing businesses that want to strengthen their leadership, teams, and internal structure. Many are at a point of growth or transition and need clarity more than complexity.

I think I need help, but I'm not sure where to start.

That's very common. Most leaders don't come in with a perfectly defined problem, just a sense that something isn't working as well as it could. We start with a conversation to understand what's happening and determine what kind of support would be most helpful.

Working Together

Is this a one-time project or an ongoing relationship?

It can be either. Some clients engage me for a focused project or workshop, while others prefer ongoing support over time. Every engagement is designed to meet you where you are and align with what your organization actually needs.

How much does it cost to work with you?

Every engagement is scoped to the situation, so there's no rate card. After an initial conversation I'll recommend an approach and give you clear pricing up front, including what's in scope and what isn't. Most engagements start as a defined project with a fixed fee. Some continue as ongoing support once the initial work is done.

What does the process look like?

We start with a conversation. From there, I'll suggest a path forward, whether that's an assessment, a workshop, leadership support, or something more targeted. The process is structured but flexible, and designed around your organization.

I'm interested. What's the next step?

The best next step is to reach out and schedule a conversation. We'll talk through what's going on, what you're hoping to improve, and whether working together makes sense.
